The Dermaga Diraja Bandar Seri Begawan (Royal Wharf Bandar Seri Begawan) is an iconic site within the country's capital. One of the scening sights within the city, the waterfront harbours an attractive pedestrian promenade with panoramic view of the Kampong Ayer (water village) cultural site. Situated along the waterfront are an art gallery, a few restaurants and cafes including the high-profile Kaizen Sushi Restaurant. The area also carries a historical significance as it was used by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's late father Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, who departed and returned from Mekah at this particular point when performing Haj with other pilgrims for the first time in 1951.
