Uncle Tim’s bridge takes you over the Wellfleet Harbor inlets. Interesting at low or high tide- lots of water and shorebirds, an occasional blue heron waiting for dinner to arrive on the rising tide, follow the sand paths around the woodlands or take the path up through the pines and find a well-situated bench to view the town itself, from a different perspective. You can continue your walk along the sand path, taking care not to intrude on the zillions of sand crabs that live and love there, following it out to views of Wellfleet Harbor’s tip where the boats, yachts and fishing vessels go by. Uncle Tim’s Bridge is the whole experience- the water, the sea grasses, the crabs, the birds, the views, ah yes the folks who make it their regular favorite place to stroll, sit, birdwatch, visit.

Cross the bridge to a self-contained little world. Wonderful waterfront stroll with views of the village and harbor. Alternate route over the small hill. Low tide offers more walking, but to me, high tide is more appealing. Walk here from Cove View Cottage around Chipman's Cove at low tide, cross Uncle Tim's Bridge right in to the heart of the Old Town Wellfleet.
