Avila Beach best kept secret, there are tours to the lighthouse. You must buy tickets in advance, the property sits on a beautiful area with gorgeous views.
Port San Luis is at the far end of Avila Beach, there is a light house and pier you can walk on, eat at, and see the local wildlife. There is a Seal colony that likes to hang out on a boat pier about 30 feet off of the main pier.
The Point San Luis Lighthouse was built in 1889 after “The Queen of the Pacific” ran aground, en route to the (now) Harford Pier. In operation until 1974, in 1992 the Lighthouse and surrounding property was granted by the Federal government to the Port San Luis Harbor District. In 1995, The Harbor…
Don't miss out on the historic tour of the Port San Luis Lighthouse. Hike the Pecho Coast Trail to learn about the area and history of Avila Beach. Hikes end at the lighthouse. and the tour is only $5 per person. Must book ahead, as hikes are only on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
