Being the daughter of a coal miner, this is a must see if you are in the area. Just 3 miles from our exit (or you can go the back way with our help and see some really cool stuff, coal mines, coal ovens, etc.), this historic site is touching. Families lost in a coal miners strike, families were attacked, having to hide underground, with only some surviving.

The Ludlow Massacre Memorial is off the beaten path, but then again so are we! It was a terrible event in the early part of the 20th century that led to the unionization of miners in this mineral rich land. It was a massacre.
