The Mountain Top Historical Society is dedicated to discovering and preserving the unique and rich history of the Catskill High Peaks. The Society is a not-for-profit organization and maintains a Visitor and Art Trail Center and the Ulster and Delaware train depot in Haines Falls. Check their hours (unfortunately the society center is closed December-March).

Here is the inside scoop... they have a huge parking lot. When the state's tiny parking lots are full you can park here for a fee.Hiking in is great and you can leave your car in good hands. OH! If you are into history, thee folks know what happened in these mountains. Amazing resource!
