While it has appeared in exciting films like “Escape From Alcatraz” and “The Rock,” Alcatraz is very much real. It’s no longer functioning as a prison, but it’s open for tours. Alcatraz is what to visit when you want a glimpse inside one of the most fascinating parts of San Franciso’s history.

I LOVE the night tour! Alcatraz tours are very popular. The ferries and tours leave from Pier 33, an easy 10 minute walk away. However, it is advisable to purchase tickets online well in advance.
