The home of the elephant gathering where every year 200-300 elephants congregate by the Minneriya tank between the months of June and September. Gets crowded around the August holidays so best before or after.

I love visiting Minneriya. Definitly see the elephants and the ride in those old jeeps are good fun for the children. It is especially stunning at the time of the gathering when all the eleohants on the island meet at the lake here.
