I worked with the mayor of the 13th arrondissement to authorize artists to create work on the facades of buildings, including some visible at this intersection like Rise Above Rebel by Shepard Fairey and a ballerina by Faile. Check the Street Art 13 website for an interactive, mobile-friendly map of the murals from 21 artists of 10 nationalities. Most of the murals are visible from metro line 6. Keep a look out between Place d’Italie and Quai de la Gare. It’s not often you can see an exhibition from a subway car. They’re even better after sundown because the murals are illuminated by solar-powered lights. What a ride!
