If you’ve got friends in from out of town who are hoping for one of those fun nights of karaoke they’re always hearing about (but may not be quite ready to dive into the full L.A. weird), Thursdays at 10pm at this Silver Lake spot might be just right. It’s a comfortable, perfectly pleasant, almost grown-up setting that is just dark enough. This might just be the moment to bust out those happy pop songs from the ‘60s, maybe even a Sonny & Cher.

The self-described “Community Pub” may seem like a typical neighborhood gastropub—unfussy cocktails and a selection of beers on tap alongside burgers and the like—but tucked away in Hyperion Public’s elevated backroom, a "hidden pub" provides the backdrop for weekly game and movie nights. Locals gather for happy hour (4-7pm daily) featuring $5 well cocktails, beer and wine, and get their Sunday brunch on with a breakfast egg sandwich and bottomless mimosas.

Your local gastropub! I take my dad here when he's in town. Great burgers and beer and a game always on, this place feels comfortable and relaxed while being surrounded by trendy bars and restaurants.
