The village also boasts the La’al Ratty; a famous Lake District steam railway. The property sleeps 4 people in 2 rooms- One double & One Twin. With both modern and original nautical features, this property is a very cosy and unique stay. Located in an ideal location to discover the Lake District via foot or train.

Cockermouth & Keswick are a short drive away along with the seaside towns of Maryport & Whitehaven & the beaches at Allonby & St Bees. Easy access to the Lakes & the Western Wainwright Fells.

Ash Lodge @ The Barn

Ash Lodge @ The Barn is part of a 17th century stone built barn conversion. A perfect base for hikers, couples and families visiting the beautiful Western Lake District. Near to England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike in Wasdale and the gorgeous Cumbrian coast. With beams and a wood burning stove for cosy nights in or dine at the 17th Century Inn next door. Wythop School, Lake District

Located in the Lake District National Park on the coast to coast cycle route, Wythop School sits on the side of Ling Fell with views towards Bassenthwaite Lake. The old village school has been renovated to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 10 guests. The village has a pub and hotel offering good food and real ale. All other amenities (supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, museums etc) can be found in Cockermouth, a 4 mile drive away.

Beautiful lakes and mountains nearby for walks and adventures. Cockermouth market town is 4 miles away, with supermarkets, good independent shops, restaurants and cafes.

The Old Map Shop

The Old Map Shop was originally part of the village school. In more recent times it was a map shop, but then lay empty for a number of years before it was sensitively converted into a holiday property in 2020 - 2021. Caldbeck has a pub, cafes and a few shops. It is a great base for exploring the northern fells or for a stop on the Cumbria Way.
