The Shed Bed is situated in natural bush. It is peaceful and private. We can have animals but not inside the Shed Bed. This is our personal requirement to keep the room clean for our guests, for anyone with allergies.

Welcome home to your one of a kind idyllic Tuscan paradise in the Mt Gambier countryside where you will find the time to immerse yourself in its wonderful peace and quiet. Be infused with fresh energy as the magical serenity of this Garden of Eden washes over you. You’ll relish feeling all of the stress and tension of your journey just melting away...
The lush, manicured gardens are the perfect place to enjoy a delicious breakfast of croissants and coffee with the sound of birdsong serenading you whilst in the company of a kangaroo or two, munching on their breakfasts in the distance. You’ll be forgiven for thinking that you have magically been whisked away to the Italian countryside, (with the odd inclusion of kangaroos!) and between the hammocks and the many fairy tale nooks and crannies you will find endless idyllic spots to sit and read or blissfully doze under the dappled shade of the many trees scattered throughout the grounds. Here every day feels like a lazy, old-fashioned Sunday. The property is bounded by cool, scented pine forests. In the area are many wonderful attractions including the fascinating Tantanoola Caves just a short drive away, as well as the beautiful and famous Blue Lake where you can try your hand at scuba-diving in the azure waters. There is also Lake Bonney for those who’d like to try a spot of fishing or boating and along the coast road to the east you will find the Twelve Apostles, less than a three and a half hour drive away. To the south is Port Macdonnell on the coast which is renowned for its delicious rock lobster and fishing boat charters. Feel invigorated after a restful night in our little piece of heaven, the gently tinkling fountains dotted around the park-like grounds will gently soothe you so that you’re refreshed and ready to head off on the next leg of your journey. (We’d suggest you plan on staying a little longer though, as all who visit here fall in love with the place and wish they could stay longer!) Here at home we have authentic pizza ovens should you wish to try your hand at whipping up a traditional home-made pizza, a bbq to enjoy al-Fresco meals, as well as full cooking facilities in the beautiful slate-floored kitchen. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise, once you are here you’ll never want to leave.
During your stay you will find every convenience you might need. Glencoe is just an 8 minute drive away for last minute essentials. The Tantanoola Caves are a 6 minute drive from the house along the Princes Highway towards Millicent. It’s a 20 minute drive to Mt Gambier should you wish to venture into town or try out some of the restaurants nearby. You’ll discover lovely bits of history, beautiful volcanic lakes where you can BBQ, picnic, fish, boat, windsurf or jet ski. There are some beautiful walking trails and also horse trail riding on selected days. At the Mt Gambier Visitors Centre, journey back in time with a story - telling hologram and experience a virtual reality cave dive. The Coonawarra Wine Region just outside Penola, produces wines of fantastic balance and richness, due to long cool ripening periods. It’s a 50 minute drive to the beginning of the wine route from the house. There is also a 5km walking trail which ambles through 6 wineries, guiding you through history and viticulture. The walking trail takes approx 3 hours to complete. 5 out of the 6 wineries on the trail are open 7 days a week, and you'll be warmly welcomed for tastings or refreshments.

Think Coonawarra, and thoughts of sumptuous reds spring to mind – from the rich rust-coloured Terra Rossa soil for which it’s internationally recognized, to the prized red wines that have made it famous. There are the ruddy cheeks of those who tend the vines; the crimson sunsets that sweep across a vast horizon; and of course, there’s the fiery passion in the veins of our vignerons and winemakers. Almost a million years ago, an ocean teeming with sea-life lapped at the feet of the ancient Kanawinka Escarpment. Then came an ice age, and the great melt that followed led to the creation of the chalky white bedrock which is the foundation of this unique region. But nature had not finished, for with her winds, rain and sand she blanketed the plain with a soil rich in iron, silica and nutrients, to become one of the most renowned terroir soils in the world. Long and narrow, this celebrated ridge of earth, together with pure underground water, cool nights and a long, mild growing season, is Nature’s gift to wine lovers across the globe. This precious parcel of land is some of the most valuable agricultural land in the nation, and recognised as Australia’s premier red wine region, contributing fruit to some of the finest wines in the world. But of course, it took human spirit and ingenuity to bottle it, and like all great appellations, the wines of Coonawarra speak not just of the famous terroir, but also of the local community and people who give those wines their character. It began with the vision of John Riddoch in 1890, and his first plantings of vines; then championed into the next century by the Redmans; and given a renaissance by the Wynns in 1951. These names are still revered, and their vision and heritage is proudly upheld by the world-class wineries which now call Coonawarra home. Today, new generations of old winemaking families toil alongside an influx of fresh talent to ensure the spirit of the Coonawarra wine region continues to thrive. It is a community that’s vibrant, passionate, sophisticated and unique – one that salutes tradition while embracing innovation. At vintage, every picker, cellar-hand and winemaker devotes the same commitment to nurturing each parcel of delicate fruit and crafting them into wines of exceptional distinction that lend themselves perfectly to maturing in the cellar before flowing lusciously from bottle to decanter to glass. Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignons not only taste exceptional when young, but they also cellar brilliantly. The ageability of Coonawarra wines are world class, and it’s what sets our wines apart from others: a fact endorsed by generations of collectors around the world, who have cellared them for up to 60 years. Together, our landscape, our people and our passion work in harmony to create a signature wine region that delivers on a myriad of levels, from the truly magnificent rust-red earth below to the lush, vivid green vines and big blue skies above; the cool Cabernet Sauvignons, Shirazes, Chardonnays and Rieslings have made Coonawarra one of the New World’s greatest appellations.
