If the lone bathroom is insufficient, feel free to use the ground floor bath room. Explore all the nearby sights on foot as they are just a stroll away. If you are able to overcome the temptation of stopping by at the charming spots that dot the route, you can cover this distance of 32 km in a little over an hour from Kodaikanal. It is a perfect destination for those on the lookout for offbeat places to stay. Our cottage is located in a 5 acre property, facing the Shola forests and has an excellent view of the Kookal lake.

A restored stone cottage at 3,300 ft in Vagamon, Kerala. Off-grid eco retreat on five acres of forest — solar and wind powered, farm-to-table meals by Chef Anoop, no television, and real quiet. The cottage was once a labour shed on a working estate. Original stone walls, comfortable interiors, a verandah overlooking the valley. Not a resort. No pool, no spa. What there is: hornbill song at dawn, bonfires under the Milky Way, and the feeling of being completely off the map.

Fernhill Cottage, was originally built as a holiday home for the owners, Dr George Paul and his wife Dr. Bini George. The house was inspired by the model of old English cottages of Yercaud built in the early 20th century. The house is built out of rough hewn granite stones furnished with a modern kitchen and toilets. The house has a wooden loft accessed by a spiral staircase and can be used as a bedroom/ recreational area.

This Diamond-graded homestay is built of Plinthite blocks and plastered with lime. Its roofs and floors are covered with old clay tiles & have a wooden ceiling all over. This traditional construction keeps the bungalow cool.
