Arguably THE best boutique winery in the Hunter Valley. their wines can be hard to come by, but are well worth the effort!

Established in 1963 by Max Lake, a hand surgeon who knew little about wine making. At the time, the locals said he was a fool, he responded 'Well if I am a fool, this is my folly". Max Lake is generally regarded as the "father of the Australian boutique wine industry". Lakes Folly is famous for its cabernet and chardonnay. Dr Lake passed away in 2009 and the property is now owned by Peter Fogarty (W.A. Company). Look for the sign on the gate to check it is open. Lakes Folly has tons of character and well worth a visit.
