So much less crowded than Kits beach and more beautiful.

A stunning beach frequented mostly by locals, beneath the cliffs and homes above NW Marine Drive (which continues West along the water all the way to UBC campus). The tide goes out about 1km here for fun whether it is in or out as the shallow water is safe and stays quite warm, especially when the tide comes in. A great place to bring young children when the tide is out. Locarno and Spanish Banks Beach stretch for several miles along this part of the Vancouver shoreline. Sandy, safe, family friendly. You can't lose at this beach on a sunny day. It is also a beautiful place for a walk on foggy or rainy day - the views back toward the city (east) or west toward open ocean and islands is quintessential Vancouver.

Jericho, Locarno and Spanish Banks beaches all are like one continuous beach - enjoy walking, cycling, ocean swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, whatever suits.

Locarno, Spanish Bank, Kits ... all the beaches are a lovely stroll during the winter, perfect for picnics and beach days in the nice weather. Off leash Dog beach is at the farthest west beach. Kits beach is the most populated and closest to restaurants and coffee shops (the others have concession stands). Parking is available.
